hermn.mutiara is an amateur poet, singer-songwriter and filmmaker from Singapore. He has been writing poetry, short stories and songs, making music demos and performing since early 1990s. Previous musical collaborations: Baharom Paiman ('Mesej'), CG Karmin Abbas ('Umbara'/'Kakilangit'), Anuar Othman, Hamzah Adon ('Unsangkarables') & Ruslighani ('2D').
herman.mutiara holds a Diploma in Film, Sound and Video. He also has a background in theatre and has acted on stage-plays and TV dramas in the 90's, like Bisikan Bayangan (episod: Sayang Cikgu), Teater Komidi (the episod with dj AB Shaik). He was a pioneer member of the Malay theatre group 'Theatre 2000' (previously known as 'Kelab Drama Tampines West CC'). He stopped his active theatre activities in 1999 when he finished his studies and went on to work full-time in the public sector.
Now married and settled down, herman.mutiara still is trying to find time and inspiration to carry on writing and making music. Occasionally he polishes his filmmaking skills by making corporate videos and videos for functions, events, engagements and weddings.
Given the chance, herman.mutiara would like to venture back into theatre and set up an Islamic performing arts group since he had received positive feedbacks from his Islamic stage-plays, "The Companions of the Cave" and "Hijrah" which he wrote, directed and acted.
